Chapter 2 - Transfer Student

Rushing home, Tom packed his little bagpack and ran to school.

“Hoho you are late as usual Tom.” Michael sneered.

Michael, aged 14, big-sized, leader of a small-time bully gang in class.

“Heh, at least I took time to prepare myself. Unlike someone who doesn’t comb his hair or zip his pants.” Tom jeered back.
“UR LOOKING FOR A FIGHT EH? SURE YOU GOT IT!” On his feet, Michael shouted.
“Hey hey Ajino’s coming. Don’t risk getting punished now.” A member of the gang hushed Michael.

Ajino, aged 38, music teacher.

“We have a new student in class from this semester onwards. Everyone, welcome Nicole.” Ajino announced as he stepped into the class.
“Hello everyone, my name is Nicole and I’m from the city. It’s nice to meet everyone here.” Nicole introduced herself with a smile, and then took her seat.

“Alright today, I will be teaching you the basic Legato piano style. Everyone turn to page …….”

*Cleaning up after lesson*

“Ajino sensei, may I play the piano for awhile?” Nicole asked.
“Sure, go ahead. Heard you were the champion of your district’s annual piano competition last year.” Ajino answered.

Nicole raised her hands above the keys, and slowly lowered them. Once the keys met her hands, Tom immediately looked at her.

“What is this tune? It’s so captivating.” Tom said to himself.

“Chopin’s Etude Op. 10 No. 5? That’s a nice rendition from you, Nicole.” Ajino commented.

"So that's Chopin." Tom closed his eyes and swayed with the music. Unknowingly, the notes have already imprinted themselves into Tom's head.
